Andre Broadnax Arrested On Several Felony Charges

Alleghany County Sheriff Kevin Hall announced Monday, March 8, 2010 that the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force recently executed four search warrants as a result of a six month long investigation.

On Wednesday March 3, 2010 Va. State Police Special Agent Tommy Morris initiated a traffic stop on I-64 in Alleghany County. The operator was Maurice Andre Broadnax. The stop resulted in the seizure of approximately 132 grams of cocaine and 8 grams of marijuana with a combined street value of $14,000.00.

As a result of their previous investigation and the traffic stop the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 346 East Pine Street in Covington. As a result of that search three more were executed on Thursday and Friday resulting in a total seizure of more than $24,000.00 in U.S. currency, four firearms, three vehicles and stolen property.

Mr. Broadnax has been arrested on two counts of distribution of cocaine and remains in custody at the Alleghany Regional Jail with no bond. Additional charges are expected on Broadnax after an Alleghany County Grand Jury meets in April.

The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force consists of officers from the Covington Police Department, the Alleghany, Bath and Highland County Sheriff’s Offices and the Virginia State Police.
