1. Minutes December 5, 2011 Work Session

Recommendation: Approve the minutes for December 5, 2011 and January 10, 2012

COUNCIL ACTIONS

2. Second Reading: Resolution to authorize issuance of $150,000 in debt

In the FY 2012 budget, Town Council approved $150,000 in capital improvement funds to repair the roof and clock tower at Town Hall and to construct an office building at Public Works on Howard Street. The Town has obtained a quote from BB&T bank to borrow the requisite funds for 5 years at 2.03%.

Recommendation: Adopt resolution

UPCOMING EVENTS

Burns Night: Celebration of Regional Scottish Heritage—Clifton Forge Public

Library, January 26, 2012 from 7-8 PM

The Clifton Forge Public Library will hold a (Robert) Burns Night: Celebration of Regional Scottish Heritage in the Armstrong Room. They will have a DVD showing, music, poetry readings, and a group singing of “Auld Lang Syne”. Refreshments will be provided by Friends of the Library.

Soup for Seniors—Local Area Agency on Aging (LOA) January 23 – 28, 9AM-6PM

The LOA will be holding a food drive and accepting soup, crackers, and other non- perishable items. Collection sites include Wells Fargo, Covington, Intrepid Home Health, Covington, Granbery United Methodist Church, Covington, Good News Christian Fellowship, Covington, Clifton Forge Fire Department, Clifton Forge Town Hall, and Scott Hill Retirement Community, Clifton Forge. Their goal is 30,000 cans of soup to be delivered to more than 3,000 local residents. Masonic Amphitheatre Project Public Meeting, Wednesday, February 29, 5:30 p.m. C&O Heritage Center VA Tech design/buildLab architect students will present design plans for the Masonic Amphitheatre Project in addition to talking about construction details and timeline. The Alleghany Highlands community is invited to attend this public meeting to learn more about the details of the exciting Amphitheatre Project that will impact our area in such a

positive way.
