DSLCC Seeks Input on Quality Enhancement Plan   Dabney S. Lancaster Community College has established a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Committee as part of preparations for an upcoming accreditation and reaffirmation process by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges. The Committee, chaired by Tamra Cottrill who directs Technical Services at the College, will develop a plan to improve student learning and seeks input from a large number of stakeholders, including employees, current and former students, and residents of the DSLCC service area. “The Quality Enhancement Plan is an intentionally developed course of action that focuses on improving a specific and clearly defined aspect of student learning,” says Dr. Richard Teaff, President of DSLCC. “We want ideas on how we can improve student learning from everyone who has, or has had, a connection to the College.” For several weeks, the QEP Committee will be collecting ideas for possible topics to address in the Plan and will focus on the Commission mission to enhance educational quality and improve the effectiveness of institutions. Anyone wishing to share their thoughts is asked to fill out a brief questionnaire at www.dslcc.edu/QEP.html or request a hard copy at 540-863-2904 or jdotson@dslcc.edu. The suggested topics will be reviewed and the Committee will determine the final focus for the Plan. The deadline to submit comments is Friday, February 3 at 3:00 pm. Hard copies may be dropped off at the DSLCC Library in Scott Hall, or at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center; FAXES may be sent to 540-863-2916; and hard copies may be mailed to DSLCC Library, 1000 Dabney Drive, Clifton Forge, VA 24422-1000. Those who contribute to this initiative by sharing their suggestions will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate from the DSLCC Bookstore.
