Highlands Drug Task Force Announces AHDTF Scholarships

| The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force is proud to announce the winners of the 2014 school year AHDTF Scholarships. A question is proposed and the students from each school are asked to write an essay and their entry is judged against the other entries from their own school. The entries are judged by a panel of judges and a winner is selected from each school. This year the judges were 1st Sgt. Ken Keesee, Special Agent Robbie Hodges and Special Agent Meredith Southern all of the State Police Drug Enforcement Section in the Salem office, and Alleghany County Deputy Commonwealth Attorney Ann Gardner. Each winner is presented a check for $250.00.
This year’s question was: What negative effects have social media such as Facebook, texting, sexting, tweeting, and bullying had on teenagers in today’s society?
The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force is made up of the Covington Police Department, Alleghany, Bath and Highland Sheriff’s Offices, and the State Police.
