2011 National Electric Code Course Offered at DSLCC

Dabney S Lancaster Community College is offering a 15-week, three-credit course, “National Electric Code” (ELE 131), designed for the electrician’s helper, apprentice or seasoned tradesman, on Mondays, February 2 through May 11, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm in Room 380, Scott Hall, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus.

“This course is for anyone who will be sitting for the State Exam and workers who are new to the trade,” says instructor Daryl Burkholder.

The course examines the requirements of the 2011 Edition of the National Electrical Code recently adopted into the Statewide Uniform Building Code of Virginia, notes Burkholder. It also includes the layout and practical application of the code and prepares the tradesman for the State Licensing Exam. Also covered: code requirements for definitions, branch circuits, feeders, services, grounding, wiring methods, motors and motor controls, including necessary calculations.

To register or for more information call Doug Jones at (540) 863-2870 or email jones@dslcc.edu. In-state tuition is $138.50 per credit hour.
