Smart Business Seminar Feb. 4 at DSLCC

 
“Work smart, not hard!” is the theme of a free half-day Smart Business Seminar hosted by the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Non-Credit Program and the DSLCC Office of Transition Programs on Wednesday, February 4, in McCarthy Hall, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus. The seminar is scheduled from 9:30 am to noon.

“This seminar will show you how to leverage business resources, maximize results and eliminate losses,” says Doug Jones, Programs Coordinator for DSLCC Workforce Solutions and Community Education. “Industry professionals and business educators will share valuable tips and techniques to help you grow your business and achieve amazing results.”

Among the topics to be covered: Recruiting and retaining the best people; effectively managing and motivating employees; team building; reducing accidents and claims and lowering insurance costs; staying on top of regulations; capitalizing on free business resources; and finding new markets.

Presenters will include representatives from the Advantage Resource Group, ES Consulting Solutions, Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation, Service Corps of Retired Executives, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Chambers of Commerce from the Alleghany Highlands, Bath County and Lexington/Rockbridge, and DSLCC.

Also on hand will be Joyce Broughman, Adult Career Coach and On Ramp Coordinator, and Job Placement Coordinator Brooklyn Jarvis. Both are with the Office of Transition Programs at DSLCC.
