Membership Drive being held by Alleghany Humane Society   February 23, 2015 -- The Alleghany Humane Society (AHS) is currently conducting its annual membership drive in the Alleghany Highlands. Other than fees received through contractual agreements for animal services provided to Covington, Clifton Forge, and Alleghany County, the shelter is funded entirely by private donations and many months it barely covers expenses. Your dollars do make a difference in the lives of homeless animals. 

The shelter staff cares for a large number of dogs and cats daily at the shelter with very limited resources. Every donation is critical for the shelter to carry out its mission to advocate for animal welfare and to provide compassionate care and protection for all dogs and cats that find their way to the shelter. The shelter needs the support of everyone in the community to help the staff, volunteers, and board of directors care for the animals until they can find loving homes. With your membership dollars, donations, and shelter fundraisers, the board and staff hopes to be able to continue our mission to keep all healthy animals until families can be found for them or acceptance into a rescue can be obtained. Then mail it to the shelter (Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457 ATTN: MEMBERSHIP) with your check. You may include an additional donation with your membership dues. This donation would help us cover the costs of transports to rescues, spay / neuter, medical care / surgeries, supplies, or general operations. The AHS is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
