The Venerable C. Thomas McHenry

Father C. Thomas McHenry, Jr. To Lead C.F. St. Patrick's Day Parade

Clifton Forge, VA. (Feb. 24, 2015) - The town's tradition of hosting yet another fine St. Patrick's Day parade continues on Tuesday, March 17, with the Venerable C. Thomas McHenry, Rector of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, as parade marshal.

Dubbed the "shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade in Virginia," the event will include the assemblage of participants at The Tea Room at Bannnon's Irish Inn at 411 E. Ridgeway Street at 5 p.m. (rain or shine!) with a unique "ugly knees contest" scheduled. "Lads and lassies please wear your kilts," advised Debby Faulkenbury, director of the Clifton Forge Main Street group, the parade's organizer.

At "6ish" participants may "parade across the street" (alternately termed a "wee parade") to Jack Mason's Tavern to lift a glass in toast to St. Patrick and each other, Faulkenbury noted.

Green beverages and food specials will be available there.

McHenry, a Charleston, West Virginia native, has had extensive military service with both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, is the former Archdeacon of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic States of the Anglican Catholic Church, serves as editor of "The Anglican Voice of the Mountains" newsletter, and is producer of "The Anglican Voice of the Mountains" radio program on local radio station WKEY.

Among his other civic involvements includes being the Chaplain of the Lewis Gale Hospital-Alleghany and a long stint (to date) with the Alleghany Highlands Chorale.

The life member of VFW Post 4299 in Clifton Forge, is also a member of American Legion Post 141, Department of Virginia, and has been married to his wife, Gail, since 1975.
