Masonic Amphitheatre Announces 2015 Schedule of Events
|
| The Masonic Amphitheatre announces its Schedule of Events for its 2015 season to the Alleghany Highlands community. The 2015 season promises to offer an eclectic program of music, plays and entertainment. Local performers will be showcased, popular entertainers from Seasons 2013 and 2014 will be returning with something for everyone (featuring Virginia talent) including adults, seniors, students and children is the goal of Season 2015.
Wilma McClung, member of the Masonic Theatre Preservation Foundation Board comments, âWe have a wonderful schedule for the Masonic Amphitheatre this season with a great variety of events slated. Some of the most enjoyed groups from Season 2014 are re-visiting our award-winning Amphitheatre stage by popular demand like the famous WannaBeatles, Green Earrings, âThe Steely Dan Experienceâ, and Neil Thunder, âA Tribute to Toby Keithâ, âThe Judy Chopsâ and âWelcome to Hoonahâ. The Masonic Players will be presenting âTreasure Islandâ and âSmoke on the Mountain Homecomingâ will complete the beloved Sanders Family trilogy. Our popular Open Mic Night will return each month during the season showcasing local talent beginning in May and featuring âVirginia Fastâ a five-piece bluegrass band begun in Clifton Forge, and we plan several âTNT Trash and Treasuresâ flea markets on the Amphitheatre grounds. âHarold and the Purple Crayonâ performed by Greenbrier Valley Theatre will entertain children and adults and the season features a variety of music from Strings, Bluegrass, Motown with âThe Winstonsâ Motown Revueâ, Steel Drums to Rock nâ Roll and everything in between. Other organizations will sponsor fund-raisers on the Masonic Amphitheatre stage and money will be raised for the Food Pantry in addition to other non-profits. The Amphitheatre will host events that will benefit the community like Clifton Forge Public Libraryâs âCon of the Mountainâ and Main Streetâs Flag Day, the Alleghany Highlands Chamberâs Gran Fondo Finish Line and the always interesting Alleghany Highlands Heritage Day. Our Heritage Day Opening Concert is June 5 featuring the celtic-ly talented and lively Celtic Martins. Weâll have two nights that will highlight well-established, local bands, and with âAn Evening with Brightworkâ and other area bands we will feature bands that are beginning their careers. The one-man play, âThe Life and Times of Carter Stanleyâ is an amazing testament to a musical family. Shentel is sponsoring the Amphitheatreâs first âmovie nightâ and we are excited about that. Alleghany Highlands Heritage Day, a celebration of the Highlandsâ heritage in music, food and arts and crafts activities is partnering with C&O Heritage Festival and Train Show on Saturday June 6 and the day promises to be a joyous celebration of our area.
It promises to be an all-star summer. Don't miss all the pleasure and enjoyment to come in our beautiful, award winning Amphitheatre.â
