VIRGINIA STATE POLICE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO FRANKLIN COUNTY SHOOTING

 
SALEM, Va. (Monday, May 18, 2015) – The investigation remains ongoing by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Salem Field Office into Sunday’s shooting of a Franklin County resident.

On Sunday (May 17) at 5:30 a.m., the Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call for shots fired at a residence in the 400 block of Blue Spruce Drive in the Snow Creek community of the county.

Eric Eysenbach, 60, of Martinsville, Va., was transported by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital, and then flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury from a gunshot wound.

Joshua D. Nash, 27, of Martinsville, Va., was taken into custody without incident. He is being held without bail at the Franklin County Jail on charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

A firearm was recovered at the scene. The firearm belonged to Nash, a deputy with a neighboring sheriff’s office, and was not his department-issued weapon.

At the request of the Franklin County Sheriff, state police is investigating the incident.
