Clifton Forge, VA. (July 20, 2015) - On Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 PM, the Greenbrier Valley Theatre summer interns will present Crockett Johnson’s most popular children’s book, “Harold and the Purple Crayon” at the Masonic Amphitheatre, 513 Church Street, Clifton Forge. Harold and the Purple Crayon, a favorite in the world of picture books, gets even more exciting when it comes to life on the Amphitheatre stage. The Masonic Amphitheatre is excited to present a colorful trip through one little boy’s imagination—Harold goes to the circus, swims in the sea and gets to be on television—all through the magic of his crayon and the wonders of the theatre!

Harold and the Purple Crayon is performed by students in the summer intern company in addition to two students in the Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s After-School Program. Education Director, Courtney Susman and cast have embraced the world of Crockett Johnson’s classic picture book to create a show that will entertain children and inspire an interest in live theatre. "I always enjoy being a part of the Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s children’s productions. It's always a lot of fun and I think it's a great way to introduce young children to theatre. I know a lot of families in the community that look forward to bringing their kids every summer," said Lindsey Feamster, who is portraying Harold's mother. This is the fourth year that the Masonic Amphitheatre has partnered with Greenbrier Valley Theatre to bring the productions to the Alleghany Highlands area.

Tickets for “Harold and the Purple Crayon” may be purchase at Club Car, Owen’s Pharmacy, Jack Mason’s Tavern, Alleghany Highlands Chamber Office, Vintage Bouquet, online at www.historicmasonictheatre.com and at the Entrance Tent prior to the performance. Special kid-friendly concessions will be available. Tickets are $7.00 adults, $5.00 seniors/military, $3.00 students. Children six and under are free of charge. A family ticket consisting of two adults and two or more students is $20.00.
