NCCER Certification Course Scheduled at DSLCC August 6

Clifton Forge, VA (July 28, 2015) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College has scheduled a free National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Instructor Certification Course for various industrial craft areas on Thursday, August 6, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm in Room 502, McCarthy Hall, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus. The instructor will be Earl Dodrill, director of the NCCER Initiative for the area.

This one-day course includes an introduction to NCCER training and adult learning, using NCCER standardized curricula and teaching strategies, says Dodrill. “The workshop format will help the instructor understand the NCCER process, program administration, and the documentation associated with it,” he adds. “Each participant will provide a 10 minute presentation on selected materials from the NCCER ICTP text.” The NCCER Instructor Certification Test will be given within an individual's craft, verified by experience and practice.

Applicants must provide documentation of experience and practice by resume, earned training certificates in selected field, and/or other documentation prior to the class date.

Adds Dodrill: “We are seeking part time instructors for Millwright, Pipefitting, Carpentry, and related fields. This class may be a good place to gain a better perspective on what is required to teach and gain an industry recognized certification within a craft area.”

Enrollment is limited to ten participants. There is no tuition fee; participants are asked to register through the DSLCC non-credit program by calling (540) 863-2870 or emailing djones@dslcc.edu. Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information about the class, contact Dodrill at edodrill@dslcc.edu.
