May 27th Open Mic Night at Masonic Amphitheatre Features Local Musicians

Clifton Forge, VA (May 5, 2016) - Open Mic Night at the Masonic Amphitheatre is a monthly event during the Amphitheatre Season and it provides entertainers with the opportunity to take the stage and share a talent. Each month, the Amphitheatre showcases local talent in the region and May 27th’s highlighted performers are Nicomedez “Nickie” Calhoun and Joseph Lombard.

Nickie is an up and coming songwriter. She grew up in the Eagle Rock/Clifton Forge area and has recently moved back home from Lincoln Nebraska where she has been raising her 15 year old son, Josiah. She owned a cleaning service in Lincoln since 2006.

Nickie is attracted to playing and performing music that is slow, eerie, and that resonates simplicity.

She has played with bands in Nebraska such as Lye Soap Bluegrass Band, Root Marm Chicken Farm Jug Band and she started her own band called Calhoun. Nickie is looking forward to making her way into the local music scene in the Alleghany Highlands.

Joseph Lombard is a multi-styled banjo player and singer/songwriter. He was raised on a dairy farm in Highland County and he spent his teen years in Louisiana as an understudy of Bela Fleck. He has played with musical groups ranging from metal, Irish-traditional, and hard driving bluegrass. Joseph is pursuing a degree in Environmental Policy and Business and currently spends his time sharing his passion for practical sustainability and the value of community by lecturing throughout the Shenandoah Valley.

All genres of entertainment are encouraged during Open Mic—the audience is very supportive and the award winning stage is state-of-the-art. If you want to perform, come early to register for a five to ten minute set. Please bring an instrument or recorded music if you are singing. The Entrance Gate opens at 6:00 pm and the show begins at 7:00 pm. A

Good Will Donation is collected and all donations go toward Amphitheatre maintenance. Concessions are available.
