 | An orientation session was recently held at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College for students enrolled in the Early College Program that is being offered for eligible students at Alleghany High School. Dr. Rainone outlined the benefits for area students and thanked Superintendent Koltulka for his enthusiastic launching of the Early College Program. Rainone referred to the students as “pioneers”, being the first two to enroll and paving the way for others. Through the Early College Program, students follow a pathway that leads to an Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree, awarded to them by DSLCC in the Spring that they graduate from AHS. Students completing early college programs generally continue their education by entering a four-year college or university as juniors. At current tuition, fees, and room and board costs , it is estimated that these students and their families may be able to realize a cost savings of over $40,000.
