DSLCC Admissions Workshops Scheduled in July, August

 
Clifton Forge, VA (July 6, 2016) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College has scheduled a series of Admissions Workshops, both on the main campus in Clifton Forge and at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista, in July and August for prospective students and their families who would like information about enrolling for the upcoming 2016-17 academic year. The first workshops will be held on Monday, July 18.

The workshops are scheduled in the DSLCC library, located in Scott Hall on the main campus, on the following dates and times: Monday, July 18, from 2 to 3 pm; Wednesday, July 27, from 6 to 7 pm; Wednesday, August 3, from 6 to 7 pm; Thursday, August 11, from 2 to 3 pm; and Tuesday, August 16, from 2 to 3 pm.

At the Rockbridge Center, located at 35 Vista Links Drive, Buena Vista, the workshops will be held on Monday, July 18, from 2 to 3 pm; Wednesday, July 27, from 6 to 7 pm; Thursday, August 4, from 6 to 7 pm; Tuesday, August 9, from 6 to 7 pm; and Thursday, August 18, from 2 to 3 pm.

Information will be available on admission requirements, programs of study, placement testing and financial aid. Building tours will be conducted at both locations.

Tina Hawley, head of the DSLCC Nursing Program, will be on hand on August 3 in the Library on the Clifton Forge campus to answer questions about the application process for the Associate Degree in Nursing. Graduates who successfully complete degree requirements are eligible to sit for the RN state board examination. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Tours of the nursing lab will be provided that evening.

DSLCC offers a wide variety of programs and services, including guaranteed admissions agreements in place with over 50 four-year colleges and universities; occupational, technical and allied health programs to prepare for employment; tutoring, mentoring and other student support services, such as the writing center, at no cost to students; and many student activities, clubs and organizations. DSLCC does not charge application, testing or graduation fees. Fall in-state tuition and fees are an affordable $149.25 per credit hour.

Registration for fall classes is underway and most classes begin the week of August 22.
