VIRGINIA STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING SINGLE VEHICLE FATAL BEDFORD COUNTY CRASH   BEDFORD, Va. (August 13, 2016) - Virginia State Police M. D. Mayhew is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 11:10 pm, August 12, 2016 on Route 644, one tenth of a mile west of Route 663 in Bedford County. A 2006 Ford F-250 was traveling west on Route 644 when it ran off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment and overturned several times. The 2006 Ford was driven by Ashton Casey Shawn Short, 21, Goode, Va. Mr. Short was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
