Alleghany Highlands Chamber Of Commerce & Tourism Presents Gift

 
Clifton Forge, VA (August 13, 2016) - The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism donated three complimentary DVD’s to the Clifton Forge Public Library. “Gift from a Yankee” is a Civil War docudrama. Subtitled “The Civil War in the Alleghany Highlands”, it focuses on December 19, 1863, when 2,500 Yankee raiders were “surrounded and faced their destiny at Covington, Virginia”. It features Jana Allen, Dusty Kidd, Cherie Brown and the 2nd US Calvary Co. A. It is narrated by Alan Dale Craft and Cherie Brown.

Also included on the DVD are three additional documentaries.

“Lincolnville” is “the story of a Union sympathizer in Alleghany County, VA”. It features Greg and Brian Humphries, interviewed by John Strott.

“Wrightsville” is a “15-minute documentary about an Alleghany County community founded after the Civil War by freed slaves. Local residents share memories of Wrightsville’s early days. It is the story of how residents nurtured and supported each other through four generations.”

“Rebels & Raiders” addresses “Alleghany County’s role in the War Between the States.” It features Howard Hammond, Harold “Bucky” Mottern, Tuffy Bush, and Lynn M. Agee.
