Water Testing Session Offered at DSLCC Oct. 20

Clifton Forge, VA (Oct. 6, 2016) - A testing session for anyone with a privately owned water supply will be offered by the Virginia Cooperative Extension office on Thursday, October 20, on the Clifton Forge campus of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. Anyone interesting in learning about the quality of the water in their well, spring or cistern is invited to attend the session beginning at 6 pm in Room 509, McCarthy Hall.

Participants may pick up a sample kit and learn how to collect the samples at the October 20 session, then drop off the sample the following day, October 21, from 8 to 10 am, at the same DSLCC location.

The session is sponsored by the Virginia Household Water Quality Program, whose goal is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies.

The sample will be analyzed at Virginia Tech, and participants will receive confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems or concerns. The cost of the sample testing is $52. The results meeting will be announced at a later date.

For more information, contact Andy Allen at (540) 864-5812 or geallen@vt.edu. Anyone with a disability who needs any assistive devices, services or other accommodations may contact Allen during normal business hours five days prior to the event. The TDD number is (800) 828-1120.
