Second Annual Soup-er Sunday at Masonic Amphitheatre to Benefit Food Pantry

Clifton Forge, VA (Oct. 21, 2016) - Masonic Amphitheatre on Sunday, November 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. All proceeds from the event will go to the Clifton Forge Area Food Pantry.

Area chefs are donating their time, talent and ingredients to make the day a success. Over sixteen different varieties of soups, Brunswick stew and chili will be available. Jack Mason’s Tavern, Hill Crest B&B, Club Car, Cafe Michel, Vic’s Family Restaurant and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College are a few of the businesses that will be on the Amphitheatre stage serving soup in addition to individual chefs. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Historic Masonic Theatre Underground.

Chefs will begin serving soup at 1:00 p.m. and the event will end at 3:00 p.m. A soup tasting - three four ounce samples, bread and a drink will sell for $6:00. A quart of soup sells for $10.00. Homemade desserts will also be available for purchase. Guests are encouraged to eat at the Amphitheatre or drop by and purchase soup in a “Take Home” container. Guests will pay as they pass through the entrance tent or they have the option of bringing at least six non-perishable food items in lieu of the $6:00.

Live music will be provided by The Seay Brothers, including Tanner Seay - Lead vocals, guitar. Levi Seay - Vocals & Guitar. Brandon Ross - drums, and Jeremy Berberette – Bass.

All Soup-er Sunday participants are donating their time so that as much money as possible may be raised for the Food Pantry during this particularly busy time of year. The Food Pantry serves Clifton Forge and the surrounding area and provides food for over 400 families per month. Debbie West, president of the Food Pantry states, “We certainly can use the help. We are down in food by fifty percent. All canned goods are low with the holidays and winter coming and the need is great for our clients. Last year Soup-er Sunday provided 6200 pounds of foot. We deeply appreciate this event and all the community does to keep the Pantry going!”
