Sway Katz Return to the Historic Masonic Theatre for a Holiday Swing Extravaganza

Clifton Forge, VA (December 5, 2016) - The Sway Katz, the 20-piece Big Band from Southwestern Virginia that performed to a sold-out house at the Historic Masonic Theatre’s Grand ReOpening is returning on December 17 at 7:30 to play their special brand of Holiday Swing.

Formed in 2006 with the purpose of preserving the tradition of the great American Big Band sound, Sway Katz performs the full spectrum of big band music from the 1930's to present day. In addition to Big Band music, the band also plays Jazz, Latin, Swing, Funk, Pop, R&B, Motown, and Rock including vocals.

Members of the Sway Katz include: Don Wimmer, Linda Pasquarell, Tammy Pentecost, John Allen, Calvin Armentrout, Spencer Taylor, Jon Shannon, Matt Lombard, Jeff Ritchie, Don Hershey, Don Hall, John Stump, Dick Kazee, John Winnicki, Sharon Grindstaff, Eric Hollandsworth, Pete Medina, Bill Purcell, Terry Brown and Kim Pitts

The Sway Katz band is becoming one of the best playing and well known bands in the area. Known for a wide variety of styles the band has become a favorite of people of all ages.

The band shifts easily between favorites from Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, and Count Basie to contemporary artists like Michael Buble, Natalie Cole, Bette Midler, and Brian Setzer. Sway Katz are renowned for their tight ensemble work, audacious sense of swing and inspired solos.

A spokesperson for the Sway Katz said, "The Sway Katz are happy to return to Clifton Forge's Historic Masonic Theater for a Holiday Swing show featuring an all Christmas tune show with old favorites and some wild cards. Where else can you see a band perform 'Is Zat you Santa Clause?' or 'God Rest ye Merry Trombones'. Dress in your Holiday finery or your ugly Holiday sweater and come on out and see the show!"

Tickets may be purchased online at www.historicmasonictheatre.com, or stop by the Theatre box office from 11:00 to 3:00 any week day or call 540 862 5655. Tickets may also be purchased at the Ticket Booth one hour prior to the show. Tickets range from $13 to $20 dollars depending on where you sit in the Theatre.
