VIRGINIA STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY   Rockbridge County, VA (Dec. 7, 2016) - Trooper J. Blevins is investigating a single vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred at approximately at 3:55 a.m. on Interstate 81, four tenths of a mile south of Route 606 in Rockbridge County. A 2000 Chevrolet Lumina was traveling north on Interstate 81 when the vehicle lost control and ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned. The 2000 Chevrolet was driven by Brandon Antonio Easterling, 27, of Barboursville, Va. Mr. Easterling was wearing his seatbelt and was transported by EMS for injuries received in the crash. A three month old, female juvenile was in a child safety seat and was transported by medflight to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and later died. A three year old, male juvenile was also in a safety seat and transported for injuries received in the crash. Charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
