Masonic Players Present the Story of Helen Keller in “The Miracle Worker”
Award-Winning Play Set January 28, 29 At The Historic Masonic Theatre

Clifton Forge, VA (Jan. 14, 2017) - On Saturday, January 28 at 7:00 pm, and Sunday, January 29 at 3:00 pm, The Masonic Players will present the Tony award-winning play, “The Miracle Worker” on the Historic Masonic Theatre Stage.

Winner of the 1960 Tony Award for Best Play, The Miracle Worker, immortalized onstage and screen by Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, tells the story of Annie Sullivan and her student, blind and mute Helen Keller.

The Miracle Worker dramatizes the volatile relationship between the lonely teacher and her charge. Trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate, Helen is violent, spoiled, almost sub-human and treated by her family as such. Only Annie realizes that there is a mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from the dark, tortured silence. With scenes of intense physical and emotional dynamism, Annie's success with Helen finally comes with the utterance of a single, glorious word: "water".

Director, Wilma McClung returns to the Masonic stage with a dedicated cast and crew. Cast members include: Carter Adcock as Annie Sullivan, Lilly McClung as Helen Keller, Amelia Myers as Kate Keller, Monty Bowman as Captain Keller, Samuel Woods as James Keller, Sammy Myers as Martha, Angela Paxton as Viney, Barbara Shull as Aunt Eve, Mike Hayslett as Mr. Anagnos, Rainleigh Conner as Blind Girl, Chesney McCarthy as Blind Girl, Dani McCarthy as Blind Girl and Daniel Curtis as Percy.

The Masonic Players, Miracle Worker’s Producer is Jeff Stern, Director, Wilma McClung, Assistant Director, Teresa Cox Weikle, Stage Manager, Ty Berberette, Costumes by Michael Hayslett and Angela Paxton and Set Design by Dustin and Ashley McClung.
