County Informs Citizens About Proposed 4.94 Acre Parcel Set For Development
Site Near Jackson River Scenic Trail-Intervale Trailhead Explained
By Jerry E. Clark

Covington, VA (Feb. 16, 2017) - Three Alleghany County officials showed up at a meeting held tonight at the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library to explain the county's proposal to obtain and "outfitter style business" for a 4.94 acre county-owned parcel adjacent to the Jackson River Scenic Trail-Intervale Trailhead along the Jackson River.

With Chad Williams, county Parks and Recreation Director in the lead, the 25-30 area residents in attendance got a thorough and detailed explanation of the county's plan, which is being funded by grants.

Citizens were able to view numerous graphic "boards" which detailed aspects of the plan and many asked good questions about access, ingress and egress and other issues. (One lady even mentioned a water pressure issue which county administrator Jon Lanford addressed in part, and who later asked for her address and contact information to more fully analyze).

Falling Spring Supervisor Matt Garten also was in attendance and provided a bit of input at the session.
