New Physical Therapy Aide Course Starts March 21 at DSLCC

 
Clifton Forge, VA (Feb. 24, 2017) - A new 50-hour non-credit course, “Physical Therapy Aide,” will begin March 21 on the Dabney S. Lancaster Community main campus in Clifton Forge. Class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9:30 p.m., in Room 502, McCarthy Hall, through May 9.

A Physical Therapy Aide is generally responsible for carrying out the non-technical duties of physical therapy, such as preparing treatment areas, ordering devices and supplies, and transporting patients working under the direction of the physical therapist. They also assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Places of employment may include nursing homes, hospitals, sports rehabilitation center and some orthopedic clinics.

This course does not include a national or state certification as part of its overall objectives. The tuition is $999, which includes textbooks.
