Free Employability Workshops Hosted by DSLCC

Clifton Forge, VA (March 23, 2017) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College’s Non-Credit program will host three free workshops in April and May for anyone needing help in seeking employment. Samantha Gray, Adult Career Coach at DSLCC, will be the facilitator for the workshops, to be held from 6 to 7:30 pm Room 513, McCarthy Hall, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus.

The first, “Job Application Process and Success,” will be held on Wednesday, April 5. This workshop will cover strategies and skills for designing cover letters and resumes, how to search for and apply for a job, and what employers are looking to find on applications.

The second, “Resume Workshops,” will be held on Wednesday, April 19. This workshop will help participants create an efficient, professional, eye-catching, and successful resume and cover letter. Participants may bring a copy of their resume or a completed resume work sheet for suggestions or improvements.

The third, “Networking and Interviewing,” will be held on Wednesday, May 3. This interactive workshop will help participants hone their interviewing skills by learning how to prepare for an interview, suggestions and tips about what questions to ask – or not to ask - prospective employers, how to use non-verbal communication and how to answer hard questions. Participants should wear interview attire for critique.

To register contact Gray at (540) 863-2901 or sgray@dslcc.edu.
