Alleghany Highlands Triathlon 2017 Set May 20th

Clifton Forge, VA (April 26, 2017) - Clifton Forge Main Street, Inc. announces that the 9th annual Alleghany Highlands Triathlon will take place May 20th this year. This is a “friendly” Triathlon. The 2017 Alleghany Highlands Triathlon will include courses to take advantage of the scenic Cowpasture River. It begin at 9 AM at the Sharon Community Center and includes a 5K Run , a 3 mile paddle, and an 11 mile bike ride through parts of Eastern Alleghany County and ending in Clifton Forge at the Masonic Amphitheatre grounds.
There is an entrance fee for the Alleghany Highlands Triathlon. Please see below for sign up information. Both individuals and teams are welcome to participate. Individual and team awards are given and have been custom designed by Williams Fabrications Inc. of Low Moor, VA, and will be given out at the Alleghany Highlands Triathlon ceremony, May 20th after the race. This year the awards ceremony and after party will be held at the Masonic Amphitheatre, and Vic’s Italian Restaurant will provide some great food. We encourage everyone in the area to lace up your sport shoes and plan to attend this friendly triathlon as a competitor or spectator. You may discover that you already know many people there. Come out to cheer on the participants as they test their running, paddling and biking skills against other competitors from the Highlands and beyond. The challenge of competing in a 5K run, 3 mile Cowpasture River Paddle and an 11 mile bike ride should provide lots of tension and excitement for participants and spectators alike at the 9th annual Alleghany Highlands Triathlon. Not to mention, if you call soon there may still be raffle tickets left for you to win a brand new kayak, so you can join the race next year.
