Flag Day Ceremony Set In Clifton Forge June 14th

Clifton Forge, VA (May 16, 2017) - The Stars and Stripes Celebration Committee of Clifton Forge Main Street, Inc. is excited to announce the first of this year’s 241st Nation’s Birthday events. We will kick off our patriotic celebration with a Flag Day Ceremony, Wednesday, June 14th, at 5:30 p.m., at the Award-Winning Masonic Amphitheatre.

Members of Girl Scout Troop #1281 of Clifton Forge will hand out small American Flags to everyone who attends. The ceremony will include a presentation by Boy Scout Troop #2 of Clifton Forge, and Covington Girl Scout Troop #699, featuring some of the historic flags of our nation, including a brief explanation of their origin.

In addition, there will be patriotic music sung by Dale Meuterspaugh as well as flag presentations by the Clifton Forge VFW Post 4299. The ceremony will also honor the 242nd birthday of the U.S. Army.

A fundraiser picnic supper will be available on the grounds afterwards, and birthday cakes in honor of “Old Glory” and the U.S. Army will be served. Everyone is invited to this very special occasion. Mott Atherholt, Chairperson of the Stars and Stripes Planning Committee, especially encourages you to bring children to this event. “It is a great opportunity for them to be reminded of the history and the importance of our nation’s flag.”
