“Little Critters” to Visit the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library

Covington, VA (June 10, 2017) - Little Critters Traveling Petting Zoo will visit the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library on Tuesday, June 13th, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The traveling zoo features alpacas, miniature donkeys and horses, pygmy goats, chickens, sheep, rabbits, and Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs. Visitors are encouraged to pet the animals and talk to them. Because the animals have appeared in many social situations such as birthday parties, school and PTA activities, church events, and fairs, they are used to humans and seem to enjoy their interactions with people. The smaller animals especially appeal to children.

One block of Maple Avenue beside the library will be blocked off in order to set up the temporary pens and cages needed to house the animals. Parking is available in the city parking lot across the street. The library staff invites visitors to spend as much time as they like with the animals outside and then check out the wide range of materials inside.

For more information on this or upcoming programs, contact the library staff at 962-3321 or stop by the AHRL located at 406 W. Riverside Street.
