Medical Coding and Billing Course Starts June 29 at DSLCC

Clifton Forge, VA (June 12, 2017) - “Medical Billing and Coding,” an 80-hour non-credit course being offered this summer by Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9:30 pm, beginning June 29 and continuing through September 7, on the DSLCC main campus in Clifton Forge.

Students will learn the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT, ICD-9 and ICD-10 manuals), and complete common insurance forms, among other duties.

After obtaining the practical work experience, students who complete this course could be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) - Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice); the American Health Information Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam; and/or other national certification exams.

The tuition fee of $1,899 includes textbooks. Students may be eligible for the new Economy Workforce Credential Grant that drastically reduces tuition costs.

For more information or to register, contact Doug Jones, Programs Coordinator for DSLCC Workforce Solutions & Community Education, at (540) 863-2870 or email djones@dslcc.edu.
