STATE POLICE SEEKING PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE WITH PATRICK SPRING ARSON INVESTIGATION

 
Patrick Springs, Va. (August 2, 2017) - The Virginia State Police are seeking the public’s help with an ongoing investigation into an arson which occurred in the early morning hours of July 18, 2017. The fire destroyed a 1800’s farmhouse, located at 1288 South County Line Road in Patrick Springs.

At approximately 5:16 a.m. on that Tuesday morning a passerby immediately notified Patrick County Fire and Rescue that the house was on fire and fully engulfed. Patrick County Fire and rescue and the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The Patrick County Emergency Service requested the assistance of the Virginia State Police.

Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Salem Field Office responded to the scene and found the fire originated on the screened in porch at the rear of the unoccupied structure.

Anyone with information regarding the fire or recalls seeing any suspicious activity on, or around the unoccupied dwelling is asked to call the Virginia State Police at 540-375-9500 or calling #77 on a cell phone or by email at questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
