DSLCC Nursing Grads Obtain 100 % Pass Rate on National Exams

Clifton Forge, VA (August 15, 2017) - Thirty-one graduates of the two nursing programs at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College passed two national exams with flying colors this summer, it was announced recently by DSLCC President Dr. John Rainone.

Twenty-three Associate Degree Nursing Students had a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for the RN), the national licensing exam required to obtain RN licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse, says Associate Professor Tina Hawley, DSLCC Nursing Program Head.

“Twenty-two of those were May 2017 graduates, all first-time test-takers, and one was a May 2016 graduate taking it for the first time,” she noted. The NCLEX-RN Examination is a national exam from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

There were eight Practical Nursing students, all May 2017 graduates, who tested during the spring and summer on the NCLEX-PN (National Council Licensure Examination for PN), according to Associate Professor Penny Fauber, DSLCC Practical Nursing Program Head.

“This is the national licensing exam required to obtain a license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse,” says Fauber. “These were all first time test takers. All of the newly licensed nurses are now employed as LPN’s in the local area.”

“We are proud of the students in our two Nursing programs for their accomplishment,” says DSLCC President Dr. John Rainone. “It is certainly outstanding. I also would like to recognize the dedication of our nursing faculty and staff who guide our students every day in helping them to achieve their goals.”
