Tuition-Free Courses For In-Demand Programs Offered at DSLCC Through AP220 Consortium

Clifton Forge, VA (August 18, 2017) - Starting this fall, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College is offering tuition-free courses for in-demand programs in both Allied Healthcare and Advanced Manufacturing, through a federally funded tristate grant entitled America’s Promise.

Programs available at DSLCC include: Phlebotomy (pathway to Medical Laboratory Technician), EMS (pathway to Paramedic), Electrical and Instrumentation Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Billing and Coding (special certifications qualify) and Massage Therapy.

These educational and training opportunities are funded through the America’s Promise Job Driven Grant Program. Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College was awarded this grant in January 2017 with Dabney S. Lancaster Community College and Allegany College of Maryland serving as sub grantees. The AP220 Consortium has received a multi-year, $3.6 million award. The goal of the grant is to provide individuals the opportunity to receive high-quality, tuition-free education and training that leads to in-demand and industry-recognized credentials and degrees.

Funding is available for qualified participants who want to pursue an accelerated career pathway but lack the resources to do so. The AP220 Consortium, through partnerships with industry leaders, workforce investment boards, economic development organizations and community stakeholders, will coordinate existing programs to reduce financial barriers for participants.

For more information or to schedule an eligibility appointment, please contact Shasta Robertson at (540) 863-2852 or SRobertson@dslcc.edu.
