Day light savings time ends (turn your clocks back 1 hour at 2 a.m. this Sunday morning, Nov. 6, 2017) and it’s time to replace the batteries in those smoke detectors. If you are elderly or physically unable to reach your smoke detector call the Clifton Forge Fire Department at 863-2516 and they will gladly assist you in checking your smoke detector. Also, as the weather gets colder, check or have checked your chimney, as dirty chimneys can cause chimney fires.
