Tree Lighting Set Nov. 17th In Clifton Forge
Annual Christmas Parade Will Be Held December 1st

Clifton Forge, VA (Nov. 7, 2017) - Every Day is a Great Day to be Alive in Clifton Forge and at this time of year you can feel the excitement in the air as our merchants, civic organizations, and other groups begin preparations for the upcoming Holiday Season.

Clifton Forge Main Street has announced that Christmas officially begins in our town with the 5th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony that will take place Friday, November 17th at 6PM on the Town Hall steps along with the opening of The 6th Annual Kriskindlemarkt held in the Mill at the Clifton Forge School of the Arts. Kriskindlemarkt, the very popular German Style Market offers wonderful artisan gifts and delicious German food.

Kriskindlemarkt is open Friday November 17th from 2-7PM and Saturday November 18th from 10AM-5PM. Plan to come early and stay late. During the tree Lighting Ceremony, there will be a performance by a group of area children demonstrating their clogging skills for all to enjoy. Hot cider and cookies for everyone will also be provided by Main Street.

Beginning November 17th and continuing through the holiday season, our area merchants and businesses will each be displaying a personally decorated wreath on their doors. This custom, known as the “Doors of Clifton Forge”, annually attracts many folks who walk up and down our main shopping street to look at all the wreaths. During the Holiday Season, there will be small, lighted Christmas trees decorated by area school children from Pre-K through the 1st Grade attached to our lampposts in the Downtown Historic District. Each tree, adopted by one class will feature handmade ornaments made by the children primarily using recycled materials. They are placed at sidewalk level so shoppers can walk up close to the trees to admire the creative work of the younger students in our area schools.

On Friday December 1st, at 6PM, Clifton Forge Main Street will once again host the Annual Christmas Parade through our Downtown Historic District. This year’s theme is Candy Canes and Christmas Carols. Come out and join in the excitement as floats, marching bands, drill teams and more, parade through our streets. Who knows - maybe Santa will make an appearance, too.

Meanwhile, folks have already begun bidding on the Silent Auction items, including fully decorated Christmas trees that are on display in The Historic Masonic Theatre. The Silent Auction will close Saturday December 2nd, during the annual Clifton Forge Woman’s Club Holiday Home Tour. The proceeds from these two events will be used by the Woman’s Club to support various civic projects in Clifton Forge. Speaking of the Historic Masonic Theatre be sure to check the calendar of entertainments offered there throughout the holidays. These wonderful offerings can’t fail to encourage your Christmas Spirit.

In the words of Jenny Oeltjen, a business owner in downtown Clifton Forge and a board member of Clifton Forge Main Street, “There is truly something for everyone of every age to enjoy in the Downtown Historic District of Clifton Forge beginning now throughout the Holiday Season. From the creative decorations, to the celebrations and entertainments, to the unique shopping opportunities, you won’t want to miss a chance to see our little town all dressed up and ready help you enjoy the Holiday Season.”
