Clifton Forge Town Council Honors Bill Zimmerman For Public Service

| Clifton Forge, VA (Nov. 14, 2017) - The Clifton Forge Town Council honored the late Covington City Councilman Bill Zimmerman on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 with the following resolution:
"RESOLUTION HONORING
WILLIAM “BILL” ZIMMERMAN, JR.
WHEREAS , the members of Clifton Forge Town Council are deeply saddened by the passing of Covington Councilman William “Bill” Zimmerman, Jr. on Monday, November 6, 2017, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Zimmerman exhibited the character, dedication, and passion during his life and service to the City of Covington and the Alleghany Highlands region which deserves public recognition, and
WHEREAS, the manner in which Councilman Zimmerman approached his service as a thoughtful listener and reasoned decision maker who never waivered on the position that he felt best represented his District 1 constituents even though it sometimes made him the only dissenting voice, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Zimmerman was steadfast in his views and votes but never let differences in opinion influence the way he treated his colleagues or detractors, always greeting every person with a smile, handshake, and a cheerful hello, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Zimmerman worked extensively with the youth of the area as a diversion specialist, and as an advisor to both the Jayteens and Boys Home and was serving his 24th year on Covington City Council this year, and
WHEREAS, in spite of recent health issues Councilman Zimmerman found the strength to attend his council meetings and to sing in the Granbery Church Choir., and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by Clifton Forge Town Council that it does hereby honor the service and life of “Bill Z” as he was affectionately known and mourns the loss of a true friend and servant –leader to the entire Alleghany Highlands Region.
