Virginia Opry Set Country Christmas Show Dec. 2nd

 
Clifton Forge, VA (Nov. 14, 2017) - The Virginia Opry will perform its “Country Christmas Show” on stage at the Historic Masonic Theatre with special guest Glen Shelton sharing the stage with Lonesome Road, Crossing County Lines, Appalachian Pickers, and The Virginia Opry’s band and vocalists on Sat., Dec. 2, at 7:00 p.m.

Shelton, a recording artist and ICM (Inspirational Country Music) songwriter of the year nominee, has shared the stage with such nationally prominent acts as Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Ronda Vincent, Ronnie McDowell, Lee Ann Womack, Sawyer Brown, Joe Nichols, Jimmy Fortune, Darryl Worley, and Lonestar. Fortune has praised Shelton, by saying, “He’s one of the best vocalists I’ve ever heard.”

Lonesome Road, a country duo featuring Dave Eakin and Bobbie Huffman, will make its debut on The Virginia Opry. Eakin is a guitarist and vocalist while Huffman is a multi-instrument performer and vocalist.

The Virginia Opry’s band is made up of Billy Berberette, bass guitar; Charlotte Ivy, rhythm guitar; Denny Fitzgerald, banjo; B.T. Ross, drums; and Eakin, lead guitar. Vocalists are Laura and Melvin Snead, William and Holly Nicely and Kim Cahoon. Marcia Navidi Kasmai will join William Nicely to emcee the show.

Crossing County Lines is a bluegrass band featuring four teenagers, Jacob Holdren, Isaac Blake, Michael Burdette and Eli Phillips. The band was formed in Sept. following the audition for the New “Old School” Junior Virginia Opry, and the band debuted at the theatre on Nov. 4.

Appalachian Pickers, a bluegrass band whose members are from ten to 14 years, is part of the New “Old School” Junior Virginia Opry. The troupe will make its debut with Kaeli Berry, Justin Broughman, William Webb, Nathan Fender and Eli Whitley.

The four guest acts will share the stage with The Virginia Opry Band and vocalists to complete the 26th performance season for The Virginia Opry that was honored in Feb. by the Virginia General Assembly via “Resolution 397” for presenting country music shows in the Alleghany Highlands for the past 25 years. Appalfolks of America founded the opry in 1992.

The Virginia Opry has hosted such nationally prominent acts as the late Dan Seals, The Lonesome River Band and The Farm Hands. The show will be directed by William R. Nicely.

General admission tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show.
