Masonic Theatre Underground Lounge & Café Hosts Open Mic Night Featuring Dana Hartless

Clifton Forge, VA (Dec. 1, 2017) -Thursday, December 14 at 7:00 pm, The Historic Masonic Theatre Underground Lounge and Café presents its monthly Open Mic Night. Each month will feature a special musical host to both perform and introduce other local entertainers. December’s musical host is singer, song writer, Dana Hartless.

Dana Hartless, a native of Rockbridge County/Lexington, VA, grew up in a very musically inclined family. She started singing with her parents at age two, and continued to sing with family as she grew up, in addition to singing in school and church choirs. Dana performed in local festivals and competed in talent competitions. Teaching herself to play the guitar at age 13, she incorporated the music into her performances. While volunteering at The Lime Kiln Theatre, she was introduced to Mary Chapin Carpenter as "the local talent". Fresh out of High School, she was approached by a talent agent and offered the opportunity to sign a contract and perform in California for a year but decided to stay in the area. In August of 1992 she placed 3rd in the Folk Singing competition in The Old Time Fiddlers Convention in Galax, VA. Although receiving additional offers to promote her talent and relocate to other areas, Dana made the choice to stay and perform in Virginia

. “Open Mic Night is all about showcasing the wide variety of local talent in our area. We are thrilled to have Dana perform on our Underground stage on December 14 along with all the other performers who entertain the audience at Open Mic Night”, said Jeff Stern, executive director of The Historic Masonic Theatre and Masonic Amphitheatre. “You never know what you’ll hear at the Open Mic, but it is sure to be fun! So, come on in, grab your favorite drink in the Underground Café, sit back and enjoy. All performers are welcome to perform five to eight minutes of entertainment on the Underground stage during Open Mic. Come early to do a sound check, bring your instrument or music and be ready to wow the audience.”

Open Mic Night at The Historic Masonic Theatre Underground is admission-free.
