'Follow The Star Christmas Show' Set At Masonic Theatre Dec. 17th

Clifton Forge, VA (Dec. 10, 2017) - Special Theatrical Artists Revue & Showcase (STARS), a troupe of 21 performers who face mental or physical challenges, will complete its 22nd performance season by presenting “Follow the Star Christmas Show” on stage at the Historic Masonic Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 3:00 p.m.

Directed by Paula Crance and Sonya Kimberlin, “Follow the Star Christmas Show” is a variety show that features songs and skits. M. Ray Allen, founder and president of Appalfolks of America Association, remarked, “Appalfolks continues to be blessed by having two directors and performers who give freely of their time and talent.”

Allen noted, “The only documentary film that Appalfolks ever made in its 32 year history was about STARS and the need to restore the Historic Masonic Theatre, and that film won a Bronze Telly that can be viewed at the Clifton Forge Public Library.”

STARS has performed at the Gleason Forum Hall, at the Masonic Amphitheatre, and at what STARS considers to be its home, the Historic Masonic Theatre. Allen concluded, “STARS continues to be one of Appalfolks’ most successful outreach programs, and I am hopeful that anyone who has never attended a STARS’ production will come out and see this Christmas show.”

Appalfolks owned and operated the historic theatre for 12 years, 1991-2003, before the non-profit organization that was founded by Allen in 1985, donated the theatre to the Town of Clifton Forge. Appalfolks had staged hundreds of shows at the theatre during its time of ownership, made more than $200,000 in improvements to the facility, and founded The Virginia Opry and other outreach programs such as STARS to perform in the theatre.
