West Virginia Man Facing Armed Robbery, Multiple Other Charges After Wednesday Morning Chase

 
Covington, VA - According to Col. Matt Bowser of the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 3:30 a.m. this morning, the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Greenbrier County, WV Sheriff's Office with regards to a armed robbery suspect being pursued in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Calvin Scott Parsons, 42, of St. Albans, WV, is suspected of robbing a Lewee's Bar and Casino in White Sulphur Springs at gunpoint.

Parsons left White Sulphur heading East on I-64 before exiting to 311 South heading into Virginia. The suspect then turned North on to 159 where the Alleghany County Sherriff's Office picked up the pursuit near the Dunlap Fire Department on Dunlaps Creek Road. At speeds of over 100 mph, Parsons headed back to the interstate at Callaghan using Exit 10. Sheriff's Deputies then called for the Covington Police Department to deploy stop sticks. The suspects vehicle exited the interstate at Exit 14 and hit the stop sticks deflating three of the vehicles four tires. At the bottom of the exit, Parsons turned left towards Wendy's, missing the entrance to get back on 64 West. Parsons then turned his vehicle around in front of Wright Way Motors before getting back on 64 West. State police were then able to intercept the suspects vehicle pitting the car bringing the vehicle to a stop near the 15 mile marker Westbound. The vehicle was then blocked in by responding police units.

Parsons and a female were both arrested and taken to the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office for questioning. Upon completion of questioning the female was released. Parsons has been charged with felony eluding police, reckless driving speed over 80 mph, assault on a police officer, hit and run, as well as abduction and kidnapping, non licensed motor vehicle driver and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Parsons is being held in the Alleghany County Regional Jail waiting on arraignment. No one was injured in the chase.
