Clifton Forge, VA (Jan. 19, 2018) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College’s Non-Credit program will host three free workshops in February and March for anyone needing help in seeking employment. Marsha Keyser, DSLCC Career Coach, will be the facilitator for the workshops, to be held on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm, on both on the DSLCC main campus in Clifton Forge and at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista.
The first, “Job Application Process and Success,” will cover strategies and skills for designing cover letters and resumes, how to search for and apply for a job, and what employers are looking to find on applications. This workshop will be held on February 7, in Room 502, McCarthy Hall, on the Clifton Forge campus and again on February 28, Room 905, at the RRC in Buena Vista.
The second, “Resume Workshops,” will help participants create an efficient, professional, eye-catching, and successful resume and cover letter. Participants may bring a copy of their resume or a completed resume work sheet for suggestions or improvements. This workshop will be held on February 14, in Room 502, McCarthy Hall, on the Clifton Forge campus and again on March 7, Room 905, at the RRC in Buena Vista.
The third, “Networking and Interviewing,” will help participants hone their interviewing skills by learning how to prepare for an interview, suggestions and tips about what questions to ask – or not to ask - prospective employers, how to use non-verbal communication and how to answer hard questions. Participants should wear interview attire for critique. This interactive workshop will be held at on Wednesday, February 21, in Room 502, McCarthy Hall, on the Clifton Forge campus and again on March 14 at the RRC in Buena Vista.
