Veterinary Assistant Course New at DSLCC

 
Clifton Forge, VA (Feb. 12, 2018) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College is offering a new 100-hour course, “Veterinary Assistant”, through the DSLCC Workforce Solutions and Community Education Division, beginning March 5.

Class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays through May 21 from 6:00 to 9:30 pm, and also on Saturdays, March 17 through May 5, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, in Room 220, Backels Hall, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus.

Students will learn about the care of animals, as well as how to recognize signs of illness and disease. This program also covers interpersonal communication, interaction with clients and their animals, as well as how to assist the veterinarian during examinations. Administrative duties are also emphasized to provide the student with the skills necessary to maintain an efficient front office. This program does not include a national or state certification or a clinical rotation as part of its overall objectives.

The tuition fee of $1,899 includes textbooks.
