Contestants from Jackson River Technical Center were, from left Hannah Wolfe 1st place and Cody Via 3rd place. Hannah will move on to compete in the state competition at VA Beach, April 20 and 21st.

JRTC Students Finish First and Third in Welding Competition

 
Covington, VA (Feb. 20, 2018) - On January 31st, welding students from Jackson River Technical Center traveled to Roanoke City to compete in the 2018 Skills USA District Welding competition.

Approximately sixteen welding students were present from schools within the district which included; Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Salem City, Floyd County, Giles County, Botetourt County, Pulaski and Jackson River Technical Center.

The contest consisted of submitting a resume, taking a written test and building a project from blueprints that were provided. Students worked with multiple welding processes and were required to weld in various positions.
