WestRock’s Covington Mill Supports Localities Spay Neuter Efforts

Covington, VA (March 29, 2018) - Covington, Clifton Forge, and Alleghany County asked WestRock to join them to reduce the over-population of dogs and cats in the area. As a result, WestRock is providing funding in 2018 to decrease spay/neuter costs through the Angels of Assisi transport program. The current transport system is administered by the Alleghany Humane Society, which graciously agreed to administer this program for the localities. The discount on Angels’ spay/neuter costs will last until the grant funding is exhausted. This funding is only available to residents of Alleghany County, Covington, and Clifton Forge.

With the grant, the cost of a spay for female cats and dogs is $37 and the cost of a neuter for male cats and dogs is $35. You must sign up and pay in advance at the Alleghany Humane Society to reserve a spot on the transport.

Proof of rabies vaccination will be required when you sign up your pet. If your pet doesn’t have a current rabies vaccination, it will be done during the procedure. This is not optional. Also included is a microchip and pain medicine.

Transports are scheduled every other Tuesday with same day drop off and pick up at the Alleghany Humane Society. For more information on the transports, call the Humane Society at 540-862-2436.
