DSLCC Hosts TEACH Students

Clifton Forge, VA (April 16, 2018) - For the next three weeks, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College is hosting a number of Alleghany High School students who participate in the TEACH program for students with cognitive disabilities.

TEACH is designed to aid participants in learning the necessary skills to become successful in a competitive work environment. Through various classroom and hands-on learning experiences, the students will leave the program having learned valuable social skills, work ethics, safety training and other concepts related to the work force.

DSLCC is one of TEACH’s community work partners. The TEACH students will be helping out in the biology lab, the library, the computer lab, the forestry lab, and student services, while on campus, through May 4.

DSLCC’s TEACH volunteers are Science Program Head LeeAnne Bowling-Angle; Library Director Nova Wright; Forestry Program Head Scott Reigel; and Admissions Officer Suzanne Ostling.
