Big Mountain Prescribed Burn Planned for Tuesday, May 1

ELKINS, W.Va., April 30, 2018 — Weather permitting, Monongahela National Forest fire managers plan to conduct a prescribed burn in the Big Mountain project area Tuesday, May 1. The burn will occur on 473 acres of national forest land south of Cherry Grove in Pendleton County.

Signs will be posted on roads near the prescribed burn area before and when burning is in progress. Area residents and travelers through the area may see or smell smoke from these prescribed fires. If you encounter smoke on the highway, slow down, turn on your vehicle’s lights and drive appropriately for the conditions.
