Covington Man Shot Outside Penny's Diner Early Sunday, May 6, 2018
He's Taken To Roanoke Memorial Hospital For Surgery; Investigation Continues

 
Low Moor, VA (May 7, 2018) - Adrian Johnson, 28, of Covington, Virginia, was the victim of a gunshot wound in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 6, 2018, near the dumpster location near Penny's Diner in this corner of eastern Alleghany County, Virginia.

The wound resulted in Mr. Johnson being transferred to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for surgery to his left leg, which sustained a bullet near his knee. The wound was not life threatening.

The shooter has been identified by the Alleghany County Sheriff's Department, which released the following statement on Sunday afternoon. Here it is in full:

""At 4:13 am our Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call to Penny's Diner in Low Moor for a male with a gunshot wound to the leg. Deputies arrived to find a male subject with a gunshot wound to the leg. Deputies transported the wounded subject in a patrol car to LGA (Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital) ER due the close proximity. Patient was then transported to Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

"This afternoon, Intell J. Allen, 21, of Beech St, Covington, was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He is currently being held in the Alleghany Regional Jail without bond.
