Salvation Army In Covington Now Taking Applications For Summer Youth Camps

 
Covington, VA (May 17, 2018) - The Salvation Army in Covington is now taking applications for its youth summer camps. There are 20 openings for the 2018 summer season. The venue for the camps is Camp Happyland, 21457 Happyland Drive in Richardsville, Virginia, with travel to and from camp provided by The Salvation Army. The camp schedule is as follows:

     June 18-23     Music Camp, ages 8-17

     June 25-30     Community Camp, ages 6-12

     July 2-7      Boys Camp, ages 12-17

     July 16-21     Girls Camp, ages 12-17

July 23-28     Sports Camp, ages 10-17

     Camp Happyland aims to meet the physical, social, and spiritual needs of campers. The natural outdoor locale provides an ideal setting for guiding young hearts and minds toward a new understanding of God and His creation.      Applications may be made at The Salvation Army offices at 115 S. Lexington in Covington weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Parents are asked to pay $50 of the $250 camp fee. The remainder is covered by sponsorships. Parents must also bring documentation of the camper’s recent medical exam, showing that immunizations are current.

     Salvation Army work in Covington is funded by local giving. Two hundred dollars sponsors a local child’s camping experience. To sponsor a child, call The Salvation Army at 540-962-6206 and speak with one of the corps officers.
