Free CDL Training Info Session July 11 at DSLCC

Clifton Forge, VA (June 27, 2018) - An open house for anyone interested in obtaining a Class A Virginia Commercial Driver’s License will be held on Wednesday, July 11, from 6 to 7:30 pm in Room 502, McCarthy Hall, on the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College campus in Clifton Forge.

This free information session is open to the public, and will include detailed presentations about job opportunities by recruiters from various DSLCC transportation industry partners.

The upcoming series of CDL Saturday class sessions will be held on August 4 and 11, from 8 am to 5 pm in Room 502, McCarthy Hall.

DSLCC’s 40-hour CDL course, offered through the Workforce Solutions and Community Education Division, includes two full days of classroom lecture and prepares students to take the general knowledge, combination vehicle and air-brakes written tests, and to perform the pre-trip vehicle inspection. After obtaining a learner’s permit, students will spend a total of 21 hours of intensive one-on-one behind-the-wheel training. An instructor will accompany the student in a DSLCC tractor trailer to either the Virginia or West Virginia DMV test site for the pre-trip and driving portions of the test.

The full tuition for the 40-hour program is $2,385. Extended behind-the-wheel training is also available.

To learn more about the program or options for financial assistance, contact Brooke Shehan, FastForward Career Coach, at (540) 863-2848 or bshehan@dslcc.edu.
