Man Robs Covington GoMart Friday Evening; Gets Away With Several Hundred Dollars Drives Away In Older Model 4 Door With No Front License Plate |
| Covington, VA (July 13, 2018) - The AlleghanyJournal.com learned of a robbery of the Covington GoMart on Madison St. just after 10 p.m. on July 13, 2018.
The Alleghany County Sheriff's Department was called to investigate a robbery of several hundred dollars of the store, which is located on Madison St. in Covington.
Here is the full text of a release from the Sheriff's Dept. (with minor edits):
"The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help with identifying the suspect of a Grand Larceny. On 2018/07/13 (Friday, July 13, 2018) a black male described as approximately 6’2” tall, wearing a black hat, plain white t-shirt, and red pants with a white stripe entered the Go Mart on Madison St. in Covington.
"At approximately 8:45 p.m. the subject reached across the counter and takes a plastic drop bag containing a large sum of cash while the clerk was looking for an item for the subject. The subject exits the store and leaves in a silver older model 4 door with no license plate on the front.
"Anyone with information contact the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office at 540-965-1770."
