Two OSHA Training Courses Offered By DSLCC Workforce Division

 
Clifton Forge, VA (July 18, 2018) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College’s Workforce Solutions and Community Education Division will offer two OSHA safety card training courses beginning in August on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus. These are entry-level workplace hazard recognition and prevention courses. The standards are not interchangeable, so participants should choose the course required by their employer.

OSHA 10 for General Industry

The OSHA 10-hour Training Program for General Industry provides training for workers and employers on recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in general industry. Upon successful completion of the training, students will be awarded an official OSHA 10 Card for General industry.

Two separate OSHA-10 General Industry courses have been scheduled: The first will meet on Wednesdays, August 22 and 29, and September 5, from 8 am to 12:40 pm in Room 375, Scott Hall. The second training class will meet on two Saturdays, October 20 and 27, from 9 am to 3:30 pm, also in Room 375.

`The tuition fee is $95; the instructor for both is Mike Bryant, head of the DSLCC Welding program.

OSHA 10 for Construction

Based on OSHA’s 29 CFR Part 1926 regulations, the OSHA 10 for Construction training course includes topics such as cranes and rigging, electrical safety, machine guarding safety, hand and power tools, scaffolds, stairs, and ladders, among many others.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded an official OSHA 10 Card for Construction. The tuition fee is $95.

Class will meet on Thursdays, August 23 through September 5, from 5 to 9:15 pm in Room 380, Scott Hall. The instructor is Jamie Huffman, who teaches welding at Jackson River Technical Center.
